Hydrogroup have now published the Access to Careers in UK Hydrogeology report, by Mike Streetly. This, as well as summarising the existing provision of Hydrogeological training in the UK, analyses the results of the industry survey that Mike carried out on our behalf late last year which you may have contributed to.
This is now available via the links below. On the positive side, one thing that stands out is how interesting people find work in the profession as can be seen from the word cloud in the report below. This was predictably countered by frustration over low salaries and lack of career progression.

There are a lot of useful figures summarising the state of the profession and it should make interesting reading for anyone in the profession whether employer or employee.

An important part of the report is recommendations for actions to mitigate (as much as we can) some of the problems and we will start on addressing some of these promptly. We also intend to come back to the survey on a regular basis to determine how things are (or are not) changing.
